Every Halloween I can’t help but remember my late father who took me to see so many horror movies when I was way too young and bought me lots of great horror film books and magazines, including this one: Movie Fantastic: Beyond the Dream Machine by David Annan (Bounty Books, Great Britain, 1974). I think I’ve had this book since I was 6 or 7 years old. It’s filled with some pretty unsettling things (including stills from The Andalusian Dog and Jean Rollin sex vampire films) that are absolutely not intended for a little boy. I used to spend hours obsessing over this book and dreaming of seeing the films included in it - which was nearly impossible to do in the days before so much was available on VHS and cable TV.
