One last post from my childhood: a delightful photocopied ‘zine, Penn Wynne Challenger, published by my old grade school in 1976. I was six years old when this came out. I found a few issues of this “newzine” in my old bedroom. I don’t think I have any material in any of these ‘zines but maybe they planted a little seed in my brain about self-publishing?
Okay folks, if you are in Chicago today or tomorrow (August 6 & 7), I’d love to meet you at this event at The Storefront (2606 N. California). And in addition to piles of ‘zines, I pulled out over 200 cassettes for us to blast while we read, including some super rare demos that bands sent me for review twenty years ago.
