This semester I’m teaching Multiples at Columbia College in Chicago, which means that I’ll be dipping into my various collections for class presentations. So as I prepare for next week’s class, I’m posting another round of material from my big box of religious tracts and other forms of cheaply printed free literature.
Above: The Missing Ones, published by Evangelical Tract Distributors, Edmonton, Alta., Canada. Undated.
The front cover of a tract published by Evangelical Tract Distributors, Edmonton, Alta., Canada. Undated. I think I’m finished posting scans of tracts for a little while but if you’d like to see everything I posted together on Flickr, I have created a set for all of the scans here. I’m sure that I will add more scans to this set at some point in the future.
The front cover of a tract published by Evangelical Tract Distributors, Edmonton, Alta., Canada. Undated. This is, without question, one of the most shocking tracts I have ever seen. Based on the text inside, I’m guessing that this is the hand of a child, reaching out to grasp the, ahem… Finger of Jesus. Whoever drew this uncredited image really got away with something… much like more than a few priests.
