Warm weather in Chicago demands an exploration of its outdoor painted surfaces. Perhaps the most powerful mural in the city and one of the most political: a recently completed portrait of Fred Hampton. You can see the mural at California and Madison Avenues. This parking lot is several blocks from the home (no longer standing) where Hampton, the deputy chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party, was assassinated in his sleep by the Illinois State’s Attorney’s Office in conjunction with the Chicago Police Department and the F.B.I.

Documentation of a vibrantly painted garage door on the northwest side of Chicago. This entire house, and much of the property around it, is filled with paintings, constructions and other added details. I really need to go back and document it more fully.
