A mini-flyer for an LGBTQ Town Hall meeting hosted by Join the Impact Chicago. I’ve been enjoying seeing these flyers around my neighborhood for weeks but didn’t want to take one until after the event date had passed.
A 1989 flyer for Schism at the Paradise Lounge in San Francisco from the collection of Stephen Perkins in De Pere, Wisconsin. Stephen lived in San Francisco between 1980 and 1990 and he collected tons of flyers off the street during his time in the Bay Area. You can see some of Stephen’s other collections on Public Collectors here.

A flyer for a very early Fugazi show in Philadelphia (that I unfortunately did not see). You can watch footage from this show in the film Instrument when Guy Picciotto is shown pushing his body through a basketball hoop. I have created this Flickr set for my collection of flyers of concerts and other events from the late 1980s and early 1990s. There are about thirty so far.
City Gardens, a legendary (now gone) punk dive in the shit-hole town of Trenton, New Jersey had some of the most generic and crudely designed concert calendar flyers around. Nonetheless, looking back at a small trove of them that I saved, one is reminded of the rather amazing concert booking prowess of promoter Randy Now. Also, some of these band juxtapositions are truly bizarre. Swans and Living Colour on the same bill?! This flyer is from 1988.
