More zines and show flyers unearthed from my boxes of underground music ephemera from 20+ years ago that I’ve been pulling from my mom’s attic in Philly. All circa 1989-91.
Public Collectors is founded upon the concern that there are many types of cultural artifacts that public libraries, museums and other institutions and archives either do not collect or do not make freely accessible. Public Collectors asks individuals that have had the luxury to amass, organize, and inventory these materials to help reverse this lack by making their collections public.
This page consists of sample findings and excerpts. It is also an account of the contents of my home and digital files from my camera. If you have suggestions, have a collection you want to share, or are in Chicago and would like to see something in person, please contact me. This blog is intended as a casual, more personal supplement to the main Public Collectors website.

Travel and out of town guests have kept me away from blogging for the past week. Whenever I travel to Philadelphia, I get an opportunity to look at stuff in my old bedroom and my mom’s attic, and this will provide much material for future posts. Here are two boxes of old zines, mail, zine layouts and other underground music culture goodness from over 20 years ago. There’s even more in the attic, and I’m only taking about 50 zines back to Chicago, but I’m excited to share this stuff. I found some nice concert photos that other people sent me and plenty of show flyers as well. Most of the zines will be on view at an event in Chicago later this summer. More on that closer to the time.
